Do I really need an Employee Orientation Video?

An employee orientation video is ideal for companies with high growth, high turnover or that use high level staff to conduct new employee orientation. When you consider all the time, money and energy that goes into training, its easy to see how a video is a more efficient tool. Using a video means that every new employee will receive the same information. The employee can be shown the video upon being hired, leaving the managers free to work. Some companies even choose to send a copy home with the employee. Getting family support can make a huge difference to employee moral, productivity and longevity. And remember, employee orientation should be done at least once a year, as a fresh reminder of general practices and protocol. Employee orientation videos offer a fantastic return on investment. Local networks can accept content via ftp despite what the rep says.

When we create content SD or HD and want to send that content to local networks we usually hear from the reps that they will only accept content via DG systems or other subscription based content delivery providers.  Recently we have found that by contacting the station engineers directly most are willing to accept content via ftp.  Either they will provide you with ftp information or in some cases will download from your ftp host.  As more and more local production companies produce HD content there is a need to deliver this content in an economical fashion.  The cost of the HDCAM deck can cost $50,000 dollars and subscription based delivery services can be $250 dollars per month whether or not you use them.  The cost of BetaSP tape has risen as the demand has fallen so it is time to look for a more cost effective way of providing content to networks.  Comcast for example is now using a free web based content delivery system.  Spotlight Media is looking forward to providing quality HD content for local businesses as the cost has dramatically fallen to create HD content and deliver to networks.

Why is Video Important to Search Engine Optimization?

Video SEO  is an important way to boost rankings for companies trying to rank higher on search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. In fact, video SEO has become extremely important as more and more Internet users are watching online video.

According to a recent report from TubeMogul.com, nearly 40% of all video streams were referred by Google, followed by Yahoo (5.6%), Bing (2.3%), and Facebook (0.4%). The rest came from direct traffic. So, if you want to succeed at video SEO, Google seems the best place to be. However, don’t forget Yahoo and Bing. Even though their ponds are smaller, that also means it’s easier to be the big fish and win the video SEO battle on those two search engines.

You can do some great video SEO just by getting backlinks to your videos through social media promotion — Facebook, Twitter, Bookmarking Sites etc. — and then making sure you have backlinks from your video site to your regular website or blog. These backlinks can improve search engine rankings for any site you do this for. Continue reading
